Full-time Programme Manager

at Nanga Organization (Anywhere)


Nanga Organization is locally registered NGO established by Kickstart Kids International, whose mission is to provide support to orphans and vulnerable children in Kenya. Nanga values openness, transparency and equality in all its dealings with the local communities we serve, partners, employees, supplier and other organizations/individuals we work alongside.

Nanga is in the process of establishing the Olturoto Children’s Village (OCV) as a transitional home for vulnerable children in Kitengela. As such, we are seeking to recruit an experienced Programme Manager to develop and oversee the running of the home, as well as to take an active role in delivering services to children and families. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the OCV excels in the provision and delivery of services for children and follows an exemplary approach to safe-guarding them.

Education/ Qualifications

• Recognised degree in Social Work/Psychology or Counseling or equivalent training and experience


• At least 5 & above years of management experience in a social work setting, including experience of working directly with vulnerable children.
• Management and development of staff to maximise performance
• Understanding of the Children’s Act and other related legislation in Kenya
• Development and implementation of Child Protection and case management processes
• Involvement in programme planning, monitoring and evaluation, preparation of budgets and cash flow management


• Able to work with children, families and communities from all backgrounds, empathetic and have a wide understanding of the issues surrounding vulnerable children
• Management and supervisory skills, strong personnel and relational skills
• Ability to manage, motivate, develop and inspire people to perform to their best ability
• Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
• Pro-active in developing new opportunities and an excellent networker
• Computer literacy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and fluency in Kiswahili and English
• Must be proficient at using email as a primary method of communication with trustees
• Have ability to present progress reports and updates to trustees at board meetings.

5. Undertake the role in a manner appropriate to the cultural context and within the local legal framework.
