Kenya Film Commission (KFC) is a State Corporation mandated to facilitate the development of a vibrant film and television industry in Kenya and to market the country’s filming potential locally and internationally. KFC works closely with film stakeholders, government agencies, private organizations, professional bodies and associations in the film industry and other film commissions. KFC has exciting career opportunities and now seeks to recruit the appropriate persons to fill the following senior positions:

FESTIVAL AND FUNDS/SKILLS DEVELOPMENT MANAGERJOB REF: KFC/FFSDM/2013
Reporting to the Director of Film Industry Development. The job holder will be responsible for assisting in building the capacity of local filmmakers.

Job Profile:

  • Keeping KFC and its stakeholders abreast with all relevant film festivals, film funds and other such resources, both locally and internationally.
  • Review existing KFC standards and specification so that the Industry remains in step with the world trend in quality film production and operation and management methodologies.
  • Maintain an up to date catalogue of KFC standards and specifications and promote their use within the Industry.
  • Implement strategies, policies, and standards pertaining to research and development.
  • Facilitate and conduct research into new standards, methods, procedures and management practices pertaining to all aspects of the development of the film industry.
  • Initiate research and administer internal/ external research; and compile research data into comprehensive reports.
  • Identify areas of need in the industry through analysis of data and feedback from customers.
  • Participate in film industry capacity building events.
  • Conduct research on the customer needs in the film industry.
  • Participate in the development /update of database containing: local film makers, practitioners, service providers in the film industry, topical issues on films, possible development partners, and suitable locations for film shooting.
  • Participate in organizing and coordinating film industry events such as mobile cinemas, Africa cinema clubs, workshops and seminars, etc.
  • Participate in preparation of corporate newsletter.
  • Participate in documenting KFC events.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the management from time to time.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor degree from a recognised university.
  • Preferably a Masters in film related field.
  • Preferably a Diploma in Project Management, Journalism, Communication, or related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to quickly understand complex problems and devise effective solutions.
  • Commitment to Continuous Learning – Willingness to keep abreast of new developments in the film industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proactive and able to work under pressure.
  • At least five (5) years experience in the film industry or fundraising.
